The Birds Outside My Window
This piece was created after I recieved news from my doctor that changed how I viewed my life. As I stared outside my apartment window, I saw thousands of birds flying around in circles. I noticed that everytime I received bad news from my doctor, the birds would fly chaotically and without order. Every time I received good news, the birds would resume flying in an orderly fashion.
The birds are represented by the push-and-pull between tonality and atonality, free-form and structure, and slow and fast tempos. This work won the national DM.connect competition, and was transformed into a choreographed film.
